Professional tutor training, developed especially for OPEN GATE and implemented by Dr. Margie Kitano, an Associate Dean and Researcher at San Diego State University College of education, prepares OPEN GATE tutors to meet the special needs of our students. Innovative web-based technology, designed specifically for OPEN GATE by San Diego Social Venture Partners, is vital to tracking student and tutor activities, measuring results, and managing the program. Evaluation by SDSU’s research team leads to a clear understanding of student, tutor, and parent needs.

Together, they allow OPEN GATE to customize tutoring for each child, creating a comprehensive system that has produced exceptional results and has distinguished the OPEN GATE Program as a leader in gifted education.
